By age 5, most typically developing children have both daytime and nighttime bladder control (International Children’s Continence Society, 2016). When continence is delayed, it can impact self-esteem and contribute to emotional and behavioral concerns.

According to the National Institute of Health, nearly 20% of children and young people ages 3-17 in the United States have a mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral disorder. Globally, nearly 15% of young people ages 10-19 experience a mental health disorder.

According to the CDC, approximately 1 in 7 children (around 14%) in the United States are affected by some form of developmental disability, which includes physical disabilities. Specifically, the CDC estimates that about 1.5 million children (ages 0-17) are impacted by physical disabilities each year.

Spectacular Kids Occupational Therapy is determined to facilitate children in growth, skill building, and emotional awareness through the use of therapeutic activities, to reduce mental health and physical skill exasperation, and enhance each individuals quality of life.
